Deployment Journal/Blog Week 12

Well, here we are again people. I feel like a deer in the headlights…I’m frozen out of the intense pressure I feel (from myself) to make you all laugh and laugh. However, I really don’t have anything funny to talk about. I’ve just got a summary of the week, so I’ll just get started and we’ll see how it goes.

Last week was spirit week at school, which we didn’t remember on Monday, so the girls missed Dress like your military parent on Monday. However, I’m proud to say, every other day they were spirited out! Also, the best one from each class got to sit onstage at assembly each day, and Hannah got up there twice and Brianna once! I included a picture of them on Sports Wednesday. There was also Crazy Hair day Tuesday(Hannah on stage), Wacky Tacky Thursday(Brianna on stage), and favorite book character Friday(Hannah on stage). It was fun to feel like I was participating in a school event, since I’m not the “Room Mom” type. Can you imagine me in homeroom, all made up and smiling at the kids while I cut out laminated shapes? Probably not, but I’m sure you can all imagine me in my sweats while I yell at the kids to sit down and be quiet while the teacher is gone!

Anyway, I still haven’t gotten the oil in the van changed since the post from week 7, so I’m DETERMINED to make that happen this week. It’s been too easy to put off since when I was in there with the van, before the guy told me I had the wrong filter size, that my oil looked really clean and wasn’t low at all. Oh well, I’ll get it done, and hopefully the engine won’t lock up on me before I do.

Isaiah has had a slight regression in his potty training, but I think it’s because I haven’t been reminding him as much, so he waits until the last second and then pees on the floor right beside the toilet. I’ll just keep beating him, and I’m sure he’ll catch on soon enough (that was a joke, don’t called Child Services, ok?).

We had a busy but fun Halloween weekend; I posted my pictures and I’ve enjoyed looking at everyone else’s too…kids are cute already, but throw a puppy costume on a one year old, and that is just too much! I went to my friend Jeanette’s house for a Halloween party, and we ended up staying there most of the day and then having hot chocolate there after trick or treating. It was really cold after dark, but it wasn’t raining, so those of us here in WA felt blessed for that.

I mailed Earl a package today…it was the heaviest one I’ve sent so far and it was full of candy! He’s going to love it! I had some from the store I had already bought, but then I also went through the kid’s bags and took enough out to fill a Glad storage bag of some good stuff. He’s good about sharing stuff with his guys, so I doubt he’ll eat it all himself. I should have sent all of it, because I can’t stay out of it. My willpower with eating is pretty much in tune with the sun here…intense in the morning, but by midafternoon, completely gone. I’ve really gotten my working out in a good habit, if I could do the same with my eating, I’ll be back to my fighting weight in no time! Oh- Earl should be home for R and R in February, so we’re both super excited about that! Don’t expect any phone calls from him, me and the kids don’t plan to share him AT ALL!

Brianna turns 7 on Wednesday this week, so she’s taking snacks to school and then Friday evening we’re having her party at the bowling alley. I wanted to have big parties for the kids this year, to help distract from the fact that daddy’s missing them. She’s super excited about it-what kid isn’t- and so that excitement is wearing onto me.

I love you all and am glad you’re in my life! Thanks for all your love and support! 12 weeks down…Hannah and Brianna on Sport Day during Spirit week

One of the best journals yet Kathy! Great idea keeping the kids busy, BECAUSE when they are busy, so are you. Boys and potty training! UGH!!! at least he goes next to the toilet and not while he’s trying to get the door open to come inside(wonder which one of my boys did that!!) That is so great Earl will be home with you all in February. Turn off the cell phones, and don’t answer the door……..stay off Facebook too! I love you guys so much and am so looking forward to times together next year! Who knows, i might even get in the water at Mission Beach with the kids…………NOT!!! But it will be fun watching them enjoy the sand and sea! Hugs and kisses!See More
